New Management Team Announced

Following the club’s AGM on Wednesday 1st June the club are pleased to announce that Brian Creegan will be taking up the managerial reins next season. He will be supported by Graeme MacLennan and Stuart Wyness. The club looks forward to a swift return to the Premier Division under the new management’s direction.

After many years as Club Secretary Geoff Clark has decided to take a well-earned break from official duties and Dave Craig will take over in the role. Everyone involved with the club would like to thank Geoff for all his hard work and wishes him all the best for the future.

Andy Russell is the new Treasurer and will take up his new responsibilities once current Club Finance supremo Graeme MacLennan has collected all this season’s debts and balanced the books. Once again the club owes Graeme a big debt (hopefully not literally of course!) and we all thank Graeme for his efforts to keep the club in the black.

Abos Seek New Manager

After two highly successful seasons in charge, Tom and Brian have stepped down as the Abos management team and the club would like to thank them for all of their work over the past two seasons.

Pre-season training is scheduled to start in July, with the AAFA season getting underway on Saturday 7th August, and the club is now looking to appoint a new manager or management team for season 2010/11.

Anyone who is interested in the role or who wishes any further information is asked to contact the club secretary, Geoff Clark, on 07729 046103.

Abos Tie Up Clark and Purdon

Facing a huge backlog of fixtures and impending midweek games the Abos management team made some moves to strengthen the squad. Bruce Purdon is set to return to the fold for the crucial final few months of the season and former Premier Division POTY Alan Clark has today signed.

Both indicated they were ‘over the moon’ at the prospect of a return.

Blantyre Trip Postponed

The continuing bad weather has led to Saturday’s game at Blantyre being postponed, surely the earliet cancellation in Abos history! The squad should turn up for a training session at the Sports Village at 12 noon instead.

Nicolls Friendly Cancelled

The continuing cold snap put paid to any possibility of the friendly at Kaimhill going ahead on Wednesday evening. The Abos will hope to return to competitive action with the Scottish Cup fifth round tie at Blantyre United on Saturday 9th January 2010.

Before then two training sessions should go ahead. The Sports Village is the venue for an indoor session next Monday at 6pm. Regular Wednesday training at Keith Park resumes on Wednesday 6th, again starting at 6pm.

Cup Draws

Abos were drawn away from home to Blantyre United in the 5th Round of the Scottish Cup. The tie is to take place on Saturday 9th January. Blantyre play in the Lanarkshire Premier Division and their road to the 5th Round is as undernoted.

1st round – bye
2nd round – 4-2 v Partick West (a) of the GGPL
3rd round – 6-1 v Alford (h)
4th round – 2-1 v Stivenstoun (h) (Paisley & District AFA)

We have booked a 24 seater coach which will be leaving from Kings College at 9 a.m. sharp!

In the North of Scotland Cup 3rd Round we have been drawn at home to Bankhead who play in Division Two (East).

Unfortunate to lose the cup game at the weekend to the weather. The schedule below has been emailed and everyone is expected at the sessions and friendlies unless TAM has been emailed otherwise. The Scottish Cup 5th Round draw is tomorrow in Livingston. Ourselves, Bon Accord and Echt (still to play their 4th round tie) are the remaining AAFA representatives.

Cammachmore Game Off

The AFC Trophy second round tie against Cammachmore which was scheduled to go ahead today was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Newtonhill.

The final game of 2009 will take place on Saturday19th December.

Abos draw Loudoun Amateurs in the Scottish Amateur Cup

The Abos have been given a home tie against Ayrshire side Loudoun Amateurs in the fourth round of the Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup.

Following a bye in the first round of this season’s competition, Loudoun enjoyed a 2-1 away win against Whitehill FPs of the Scottish AFL in round two and then defeated Lanarkshire side FC Dal Riata 3-2 at home in the third round.

The tie against is likely to take place at Balgownie on Saturday 5th December.

Banchory Game Off

The Premier Division game against Banchory Amateurs was postponed as a result of a waterlogged pitch, with the heavy rain of the past few days making the King George V Park surface unplayable.
