New Management Team Announced

2011 June 2

Following the club’s AGM on Wednesday 1st June the club are pleased to announce that Brian Creegan will be taking up the managerial reins next season. He will be supported by Graeme MacLennan and Stuart Wyness. The club looks forward to a swift return to the Premier Division under the new management’s direction.

After many years as Club Secretary Geoff Clark has decided to take a well-earned break from official duties and Dave Craig will take over in the role. Everyone involved with the club would like to thank Geoff for all his hard work and wishes him all the best for the future.

Andy Russell is the new Treasurer and will take up his new responsibilities once current Club Finance supremo Graeme MacLennan has collected all this season’s debts and balanced the books. Once again the club owes Graeme a big debt (hopefully not literally of course!) and we all thank Graeme for his efforts to keep the club in the black.

Season Ends in Disappointment of Relegation

2011 May 25

The Abos season finished in disappointment with relegation confirmed with one game to go. Despite a battling end to the season the club continued its reputation as a yo-yo club, managing just two seasons in the top division this time round. Ultimately the damage was done at the start of the season, losing their opening five games against teams who ended up in the lower half of the league.

The team wasn’t helped by injuries and continued unavailability of a number of players. Only a handful were available for the majority of the games throughout the season. The team proved they can compete with the best teams in the Premier but the league table doesn’t lie and over the piece there can be few complaints about relegation. The club and players will need to regroup over the summer and try to bounce back at the first attempt.
